About CTI

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can you help solve my water or post-harvest food processing challenge in [country X]?

We are always interested in solving new challenges and welcome your questions. An issue that has not been previously addressed by CTI will often first go through our Technology Committee where our volunteer engineers will begin to consider the project’s feasibility. You can email us (cti@compatibletechnology.org) with the specifics and we will be in contact with you about how we can help.

How do your devices get to the people who need them?

The most common method of delivering devices is with the volunteers. Volunteers - often church groups, missionaries, professionals, or students - will take the devices in their luggage. (Yes, they get through airport security!) We also ship our devices overseas. Additionally, the Ewing III grinder is manufactured and sold in Kampala, Uganda.

Who pays for the devices?

Our devices are sponsored by community groups, churches, other non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and individuals. They are generally purchased only in conjunction with a specific project.

Can you come to my community group/church/school to talk about CTI?

We’d love to share CTI with your community. Contact us with details and to set up a time for us to share. We encourage you to use our introductory video to share our mission and projects as well. This video, as well as access to other images of our projects and technologies can be found on our Photos & Videos page.

Can I or my group come to CTI?

Yes! We welcome visiting groups (with advance notice) to come and hear about CTI and tour our shop. Additionally, groups of all types (with persons over 16 years of age) are welcome to come and assemble Omega VI grinders in our shop. It’s a great experience and, if you choose, we will send you notification when the grinder you assembled is shipped overseas!

Does CTI have a religious affiliation?

CTI works with anyone who is interested in serving the poor and marginalized around the world, regardless of their religion.
